Keith Griffin studied flute, baroque flute and recorder at the NSW State Conservatorium of Music (now Sydney Conservatorium of Music). Following his graduation with the “Student of the Year” award he was appointed to the staff as a flute teacher.

While Keith’s musical interests and experience encompass repertoire from mediæval times to the present day and from solo performance to large orchestra, his focus has mainly been performing in small specialised ensembles, several of which he founded: Nouvelles Réflexions – a baroque ensemble performing on historically appropriate instruments, Eclectix – a quartet of slightly mad flute players, and Talisman Ensemble, a group which performed classical and lighter styles of music and was engaged by one of Sydney’s international hotels to provide music everyday for many years. Each of these groups performed regularly in Sydney, was engaged for regional tours, and was featured in both recorded and live-to-air broadcasts for 2MBS-FM and ABC-FM radio.

Keith’s introduction to conducting came during his high school years at times when the regular conductor was unavailable. Later he took up various appointments including a youth band in Northern Sydney and Sydney Youth Orchestra Flute Choir. With a move to Junee in late 2012 he has once again taken up the baton.
